For us 2023 is turning into the year of “adding things to our plate”, and we hope to soon be adding meat to yours with the opening of a retail meat premises in Guyra. “Top of the Range Meat Co.” will open to the public in the old Vidler’s Butchery shopfront in Guyra and service online customers with scheduled local deliveries. Our aim is to add value to our business and to evaluate the performance, yield and eating quality of our cattle, and supply our customers with locally grown beef, lamb and pork products.
The decision to open Top of the Range Meat Company stems from a shared passion and dream to see the end result of breeding decisions quantified in terms of yield and eating quality and provide consumers the paddock to plate experience.
Jason graduated from UNE Armidale with a Bachelor Rural Science specialising in Meat Science and began his career in Research at the Meat Science Department, UNE within Beef and Sheep CRC projects conducted across commercial abattoirs within Qld and NSW. Further roles within beef extension and research with Northern Tablelands LLS and NSW DPI has furthered Jason’s passion for the Australian beef Industry.
Laura graduated with a Bachelor Science with First Class Honours in Livestock Genetics from UNE before beginning her career within Research at NSW DPI, before taking on a role as Genetic Improvements Project Manager with the Australian Wagyu Association.
In the last 3 years they have grown the Fig Tree Park Angus yearling bull breeding program and have entered into the world of Wagyu, starting a small Fullblood Wagyu herd and F1 Wagyu operation using Door Key Wagyu genetics from recent Wagyu Hall of Fame Inductee Mr Lock Rogers over the Siddell family’s commercial Angus cattle.
Top of the Range Meat Company will operate as a retail butcher with the aim of expanding to online sales and deliveries. They will specialise in locally sourced beef, lamb and pork from the New England and Northern Tablelands Regions. Beef bred from Fig Tree Park Angus genetics will be a feature of the store, partnering with clients who have purchased Fig Tree Park genetics. Every piece of meat will be identified to its property of origin and the story of the producer that raised the animal shared. The store will also stock Angus, Shorthorn and Wagyu products from recognised beef brands like JBS, Jack’s Creek and Teys Australia.
The core focus of Top of the Range Meat Co is quality, consistency, and affordability, taking their customers on a true paddock to plate journey with high-quality, ethically raised meat sourced right from their doorstep.
Top of the Range Meat Co will commence trading the week of the 21st of August 2023.
