About
Fig Tree Park Angus

Est. in 1999 by the Siddell Family at Fig Tree Lane, McKees Hill, NSW.

Fig Tree Park Angus was established in 1999 by Stuart, Jennifer, Jason and Scott Siddell on the North Coast of New South Wales at McKees Hill, between Lismore and Casino, with eldest son Jason as stud principal. The stud name was derived from the beautiful Moreton Bay fig that the family’s home overlooked at Fig Tree Lane, McKees Hill.

Jason’s passion for the cattle industry began at a young age, parading dairy and beef cattle with his brother Scott at local North Coast shows. His interest grew from the show ring to breeding, with a desire to produce Angus bulls for use within the family’s own commercial Hereford herd and to supply to other commercial beef producers.

In 2004 Jason graduated with a Bachelor of Rural Science from the University of New England specialising in meat science. In 2006 Jason was awarded the Andrew Stebbings Memorial Scholarship by the Angus Society of Australia and travelled to England and Scotland for 6 weeks visiting some of the largest Angus herds in the United Kingdom and judging at Royal shows. Jason initially worked for UNE Meat Science before becoming a Local Land Services Beef Extension Officer on the Northern Tablelands. In 2018 Jason returned to beef cattle research as a Development Officer with NSW DPI working on 3D Cattle Assess and the Southern Multi-breed Projects.

In 2005, Stuart and Jennifer Siddell relocated the Fig Tree Park Angus stud and commercial herd to Glencoe on the Northern Tablelands of NSW where Stuart and Jennifer run their EU accredited commercial Angus and Angus x Hereford herd today.

In 2009, the Fig Tree Park Angus stud was relocated to Wandsworth NSW with the purchase of “Strabanne” and run by Jason and Tanya Siddell with later assistance from their son Jake and daughter Grace.

The foundation Angus females were purchased in 1999 from the Medlyn and Mundoo Angus herds with later acquisitions from Mundoo, Comfort Hill, Raff, Kansas, Aberdeen Estate, Coolarmagh, Barr G, Alumy Creek, Kilburnie and Dance Angus.

Sires have been purchased and used within the herd from Raff, The Grange, Mundoo, Coolarmagh, Lawsons, Glenmorgan and Rennylea Angus Studs.

The EU accredited Fig Tree Park Angus herd is currently run by Jason Siddell and his partner Laura Penrose, with assistance from Jake and Grace Siddell.
